Light and Airy

This woodgrain meets interference blue meets atomized stars effect was born of chance. It holds a place of warmth and fondness in my heart even though it is practically worthless. It makes me happy.
I finally figured out how best to change my header images from the default ones. I found some good instructions, made a child theme from WP Twenty Eleven and then installed the Cimy image rotator plugin, upload all my new images and updated some code:
The tricky part was figuring out how to eliminate the extra spacing that the plugin code added when I replaced some php code in my headers.php file. I had to find the margin value and change it to 0 auto; Figured this out thanks to JennC on this helpful forum post.
And here we all are. So insignificantly small when we look at the clear night sky, the winking stars so plentiful so far away and so long ago are telling us an important story. A lesson about who we are, who we will be, how much time there is reminds us of how we fit in. It’s all over in less than the blink of an eye. The lifespan of a gnat, the life’s work of an ant, a flickering flame sending an ember on an upward journey. Gone forever, unforgettable and with illusions of grandeur we rise and fall. From the deepest depths we crash and roll, breaking with the tides, endless, for all eternity. The hypnotic dull roar muted by clear glass doors, lulling us back to sleep. Lost in dreams. Alone with the hum of the fridge, the ticking of the clock as seconds pass forever, out the cold night’s breeze. Men strong and desperate work for squanderings on pitching decks under false lights that hide the heavens. And the fish die, giving themselves, ending their lives, as is their place, under the stars.

Here’s some glitchy mashups I made thanks to my buddy Phil Stearns’ online class. He showed us a few ways to break down different file types and use text editors, hex editors, audio software to create glitch effects on images and animated gifs. Here’s a mashup I did of some public domain nuke photos. Mmmm pretty colors… You likey? There’s more here at this URL, my still viewable project on skillshare: http://www.skillshare.com/classes/design/Illuminated-Errors-Create-Visual-Glitch-Art/663009154/projects/7469
I’ve included the originals that I used to create the mashups too, maybe you want to use them as well.
#fafatl on twitter will start you on a scavenger hunt to find some awesome artwork from local artists in Atlanta around the first Friday of each month. Their website is http://www.fafatl.com/ which has all the details. Thanks to Danielle M, I participated for the first time helping them to find a piece but also dropping off three of my own little space scenes around town.
