Step on or elevate?
Why is it that speaking about kindness toward animals generates so much backlash and vitriol?
Why is it that we so easily overlook suffering if it is not right in front of our faces?
How can we expect to expect justice and non-violence when we put violence and injustice in our mouths three times a day?
Why are we living in the past when we can be living in the future!? All it takes is starting to live with compassion and awareness for all life on Earth. That’s all. It just means we have to stop causing suffering for others, in order to drastically lessen the suffering of all. Either we end the anthropocentric causation of the Earth’s current mass extinction event, or it ends us. If we can’t be compassionate with each other, we don’t deserve longevity as a species.
Outside, all alone
the wind howls
your bones chill
the sun wanes
and your leaves shrivel up.
This too shall pass
your roots will spread
you come from a long lineage
of hearty survivors
and bigger fish.
Just don’t forget the little fish
long gone food for naught, not you.
Chewed for thought, spit back out
into the exact place that you can take root and grow
mature into your own adulthood
generate your own budding, scatterable
seeds of thought.

what was that?
I saw something fly out of my shirt too, where’d it go?
Oh, it definitely stung me. Now we’ve both been stung. Ha!
How’s your leg, does it still hurt?
Thanks for walking with me and catching the first webs.
laughter and humor and nonviolent dissent. Easiest thing and the strongest thing. love wins everything
even when it appears lost.
force your own perspective to change
grab control of your own thoughts
for just a second
see the canopy
let the light come down to you
hear the hustle and bustle of life
watch the art
listen to its message
it’s whispering something
what did it tell you?
what will you take away?
how has it made you grow?

Even the flowers fall, down with the sunlit leaves and debris.
From the nurturing soil, toward the nurturing sun,
We get past the fallen trees and tragically beautiful flowers by growing up and over them. They will nurture us all for generations yet to come. Even though we become separated we still hold each other in our hearts. The separation is an illusion. Just listen.
What do the voices of your dearly departed say to you? Who are the separated that encourage you to grow and become more of yourself? What long dead voices still ring true for you? What soil nurtures your roots? Where are you getting your brilliant sunlight? Where do you get your regular water?
Food and drink, for thought and nutrition, eat well and be well.
