Step on or elevate?
life is what you make of it
Are you taking?
Are you giving?
Are you stranded?
Lost in a sea of your own mind
You are right where you are supposed to be
Right when you are needed
It’s all about your frame of reference.
You have the power to shift it at will.
a long drive through the rain
manhattan whizzing by
from one parking spot luckily avoiding a ticket
to another parking spot not far away
a square grided circle back to where I came from
getting stuck in traffic and enjoying every second
packed and sorted and turned around once more
enjoying the central park meandering about
under the archway a pause to reflect, stairs, two towers
a commitment to ending homelessness must be made
a cold wet wind funnels in the tunnel past me and the fort
a long walk to the library with much in tow under the umbrella
sweet eye candy and a deep connection to the public space
rewards abound, drowning in potential knowledge
longing to be with, imagining affections
of new york city angels and goddesses
much could be said and more
a grandeur matched by the openness of the library’s caver
bright chandeliers with countless orbs
massive arched windows framing the billowing smoke
and ridged structures of 5th avenue at 41st street
Don’t forget to look down. Stoop down. Look at what you’re about to step on and look over to side at what is not so trodden. What is there?
what magical other place this is? So easily hidden in plain view
And how does this newness you just discovered apply?
How does it affect your imagination and link to your usual perspective?
You fly by, capture a speeding glimpse and are forever changed, if you allow it within yourself. If you are willing to let it open chains of thought, willing to let it somewhere near your heart.
The secrets are there for you to learn and share.
Their rich juices will feed your soul through osmosis.
Here are a few that I’ve found and stolen away…
For a rainy day.
Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t see you down there,
I must not have been listening out for you. Are you OK?
Pardon me, but what if you accidentally killed something that mattered to you?
maybe you’re just walking down a path, up a hill
and something jumps in your way, underfoot or
in your face.
Now that it’s dead, what do you do?
You made it out alive and you get
to sleep in your bed tonight
Sometimes at the foot of my bed at night I think to myself
Sometimes I declare my motives to myself
Sometimes before I fall asleep, I wake up
and see the light. and then I can’t sleep.

One way out.
Death is an unknowable mystery.
Life is knowable mystery within unknowable mystery.
Marvel at your surroundings, look all around.
Try to figure it out all, take it all in.
Seek your roots, seek your truth,
once you’ve spread your wings.
what was that?
I saw something fly out of my shirt too, where’d it go?
Oh, it definitely stung me. Now we’ve both been stung. Ha!
How’s your leg, does it still hurt?
Thanks for walking with me and catching the first webs.
